Locality and Service Information

Horsham is situated approximately halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne on the Western Highway in Victoria. Being the ‘Service Centre’ for the large farming area of the Wimmera, its shopping centre is one of the largest in country Victoria, carrying an extensive range of merchandise. Supporting industries are extensive, assuring the farming community with extensive back-up for their important industry. The department of Sustainability and Environment with has a larger investment in their research centre of Dryland Agriculture situated within the city, with their research farm within a few kilometres of the City. Longerenong College a large campus of the Melbourne University just north of the city catering for the education needs of agricultural students.

There are both budget and executive type Motels, Hotels, Bed and Breakfast and Restaurants catering for the needs of the community and visitors requirements.

About the Association

Commenced operations on 29^th September, 1996 after a meeting of business people held at the Commercial Hotel Horsham.

It quickly grew to a financial membership of 190 members by the end of June, 1997, without canvassing for members.

The membership has covered a broad representation of businesses since forming ranging from Doctors, Solicitors, Accountants, Banks, Financial Advisers,, Manufacturers, Wholesalers, Hotels, Motels, Restaurants, Service Stations, Tourist Industry, Light Service Industry, Farmers, Employment Agencies, Education Institutions and Government Departments to name a few.
